Another awesome day to be riding in the Jemez Mountains!
We had 40 people sign-up and 30 show up (one less than the record last year).
No full route finishers this year (come on Bret, ya can do this in your sleep!. We all expect ya to do all 3 loops next year).
Congrats to Bret Bernard for top Bragging Rights for the loops 1 & 2 this year, with an 1 hour power nap in between loops!!!.
Special thanks to Chris Hereford for owning this event and to Dominic Garcia for driving up to the end of Media Dia single track to rescue Anthony who was walking out with a separated shoulder.
Please post your ride reports as comments at the bottom of this page and send me any pictures you would like to post.
Please send any corrections or additions to lennygoodell@comcast.net
What happened? Why are not all the endurance freaks coming out for this epic adventure? Maybe if you started charging, more people would come out….just kidding. You know how people identify the worth of something with how much it costs, yet this is one of the best things going.
Okay, first of all, i don’t have anything to brag about except a good day in the saddle. Was anybody else cold on the first loop? I finally had to stop on Crosstown and warm my left hand up which was numb and not working too good….and that was with three season gloves on. The rest of me was perfect temperature.
Secondly Lenny, if you knew how I felt today, you wouldn’t be asking me to go all three loops. I can’t imagine being any more spent. I wonder if age is catching up to me. Is there a secret remedy I can take to recover from a ride like this?
IMO, the top bragging rights go to Reed Harry who was on the bike for 16 HOURS! I think this is the guy who can make all three with that stamina. I’m glad he went down Dome instead of C.S. in the dark.
Thanks to all who came out! It was a great day in the mountains at Cochiti.
Bret, Rich, Joe- no excuses, all three loops next year!
Bret- you don’t have the right to feel tired unless you do all three loops.
Moo!
Congrats to Cat as the sole female participant in this year’s event. Well Done!!!
Cochiti rocks! I don’t mind if we keep this mtb wonderland a secret from the rest of the world. Great job Chris for organizing what sounds like a typically awesome Endurance series ride.
Eli
I think you all should include loops 1&3 as a choice like you do loops 1&2. ; ) just sayin’
