Yet another sweet day of endurance mountain biking.
Congratulations to Cameron Brenneman and Jeff Hemperly for being the only Zuni 100 finishers this year. They both set records for the current course. Cameron for overall and Jeff for single speed.
We had 47 people sign-up and 40 people showed up…
- 3 started the Zuni 100 and 2 finished.
- 40 started the Zuni 50 and ~33 finished.
Special thanks Bill Siebersma and the Gallup Trails 2010 for hosting this event and putting on an awesome party afterwards.. Ya all Rock!!!

Nice job everyone!!

Great event as always! THe course is much more obvious this year! THe flag markings and Zuni 100 signs were well placed. I only had one spot that I might have gone the wrong way. At the iron bike gate left turn when you turn off of Y2K, to get one the Turkey-something trail. Fortunately I saw the trail intersection, and remembered this turn from last year, and all the MTB tire tracks. Maybe the wind blew away the Zuni 100 sign? I was surprised to not see any markings at this point, because everything before it was marked so well.
Anyhoo, thanks for having the event. I look forward to next year’s. I also like the event date, because its after all the NM XC and road races, and we XC racers can show up and test ourselves on a long course.
Special thanks to Bill and Gallup Trails 2010 for hosting, and Lenny for keeping the series alive!
Keifer
Less than 2 months shy of being 61 years old I can only wish I could finish 2nd. I was actually a DNF, so move me down and everyone else up a spot.
Thanks,
David
David,
Thanks for the update. Results have been adjusted.
How far did you make it?
30 miles.
This ride was so much fun in spite of the poorly filtered swampy cow-pond water. What did other folks do to replenish H2O supplies? Where is the best stash spot for next year?
I was thrilled to be introduced to the amazing single track riding around Gallup and plan to head back down that way before the end of the season. Thanks to all those who helped put this event on. It was most excellent!!
Leia
Hi Leia, I just take enough water with me to get back to the car. The best place to stash water is where the trail runs next to the highway about 24 miles into the ride. I think they call the area Y2K… check it out on the map http://nmes.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/nmes-2008.jpg. You can easly stash stuff on your way in for the event as you go right by it.
Awesome event!!! This was my 2nd time to finish the 100 mile course. Excellent job to Bill and crew for the after party and great course that was well marked. Thanks much!!
See ya next year.
I finally put a little video together form my Zuni 50 ride..
Great event, trails and food. Thanks to the Gallup Trails 2010 people.
