Yet another awesome day of endurance riding. The weather was amazing, especially considering all the rain we have been getting and no rain for our event!!
We had 53 people sign-up and 40 people showed up… 17 finished the full route with only one SSer finshing this year. 2 others completed the sorter Medium Friggin loop. Nice job everyone!!
Special thanks to Amy Crotty, Brent Bonwell, Scott Lucido and Jeff Humberson for drop bag support. You all Rock!!!
Congrats to Brad Hunt for a blazing 1st place time, Jonhny Fox for being the only SS finisher and to Leia Barnett for sticking it out and being the only women to finish!! Way to go!!

Hi Leia,
We haven’t gotten any real feedback on the new route… What did you think about it?
Chris Hereford (sick on day of event) and I (DNF’ed before the new stuff) are heading up to Santa Fe on Saturday to ride the SFBFL course. So hopefully on Sunday we can give our thoughts on the new route….
Hey Lenny,
I think both routes provide superb, epic rides, but I’d have to say I preferred the Rio Nambe detour last year (less hike-a-bike is always appreciated). I wouldn’t be opposed to making the optional add-on from last year required for next year, the Rio Capulin section is excellent and stunningly beautiful. Those are my thoughts. It’s an awesome day on the bike either way! Looking forward to next year!
Thanks!
I like it technical. I vote for making Ravin’s permanent. In my opinion, the ski area descent is boring.
Thanks again Lenny and Jens for organizing this thing.
Chris Hereford and I attempted the SFBFL route again on the SSs. We made to the top and down Raven’s ridge and then took Winsor back down. So we got in all the fun hike-a-bike and technical descent of the new route. Only part of the new route that I haven’t ridden is the middle part of Rio en Medio. Just means I have to go back for another ride…
I like the Deception Peak hike-a-bike much better the the one coming back out from Rio Nambe. Much better views..
And love the very technical descent!! I do like the backcountry feel of the Rio Nambe stuff but probably get that on middle Rio en Medio. We could consider Matt’s suggestion posted on the forum page and get in all the backcountry stuff and skip most of the Pacheco Canyon climb.
