2 – Cochiti 100
Another great day of endurance riding!! Wow was it hot out there on loop2. We had 38 sign up and 26 showed up… 21 people finished loop 1, 11 people finished loops 1 & 2, but no one was willing to endure the heat again and go out for loop 3… This is a very tough course!! John Stevens and Matt Turgeon, both unable to make it this year, are still the only 2 people to complete all 3 loops at the Cochiti 100!!
Group getting ready to start at 6:30am’ish
Dave & Mimi Campbell from Flicker Photography came out and took over 200 photos. The re are some great photos, especially those of everyone going through that last water crossing!! Check’em out at:

Thanks every one for a great event, espicially Chris Hereford for taking ownership of this one.
It was great riding with John (loop1), Donnie and Mike for the whole event. Sure makes it fun when ya have a small fast group to ride with…
Nice job Jens and Dex, that was some super fast riding!!!
Boy that heat on loop 2 was tough…
See ya all in a few weeks at the Santa Fe BFL!!

WOW! What an adventure! At the start I feel I may have been a bit over optimistic. I thought I would try to complete all three loops but after completing loop two, the heat, the time remaining and my condition, I realized hadn’t a chance… Nevertheless, I loved it! During loop 2 I hooked up with Brent about midway what a difference, my mental and physical sprit seemed to elevate a bit helping me pull through. You’ll love this. On our way down from Tent Rocks we ran into a heard of unconstrained dogs who viciously came at the two of us, however, I was the one who got caught by the dogs because I happen to be a few strokes behind Brent. I guess you could say they had me cornered, I guess the jalapeño and beans I had the night before got the dogs all worked up…heheheheee…The funny part; instead of the owners coming over and containing their dogs which would have allowed me to safely pass they started blaming us for their dogs acting out of control cursing and yelling at me referring to me as idiot, F&*^%$ and so on. I was totally surprised by their action, only to conclude, these have to be the type of people who turn good people into A-holes like them.
All, in all, I’d do the ride again…Have fun out there and be safe…
Hope to you soon,
Anthony P. Lopez
