4 – Double Boundary Trail

Wow what a day of endurance mountain biking.

Congratulations to Kara Durland for being the first female to attempt and finish the full DBT and she did it on a single speed!!  WOW!. 

Congratulations to Isacc Burleigh for the record single speed time of 9hrs 16 minutes.  Just 4 minute behind Dominic Garcia, this year’s overall fastest. Too bad Dom had gears!!.

We had 24 people sign-up and 21 people showed up…

  • 12 started the full DBT and 10 finished.
    This a record started to finished ratio!
    1 short of the most finishers which was 11 in 2007
  • 9 started the half DBT and 8 finished.

Nice job everyone!!

    Hmmm, no one has anything to say?

    One week later, most of my scratches have healed and I have almost forgotten the truly horrendous moments of this ride.

    Almost. Wow, there was brutal weather this year. The 9 hourers probably didn’t see much of it. But I was much slower and got caught in snow, hail, drizzle and downright downpour. I was soaked to the bone and underdressed. Stupid in hindsight. Make sure to bring enough gear/parts/nutrition!

    Bottom line though: great ride. Don’t change anything. I will probably be back in 2010 to slay this monkey that won’t get off my back.
