Wow! Sounds like an incredible course!
Way to go Dave, did I read correctly that Mundy’s is climbed in both directions?!?
    Can’t wait for it,

    Karen

Yep….both directions. Unless we finish the northern pass route beforehand. You’ll spend an hour or so on the east side before the first climb then several hours on the west side before climbing back over. Sick!!!!

hey how long is the race is their any category for under 17 or is it of all ages thanks

      Jose,

This is a poker ride, not a race. 65 miles in the Franklins will be quite a task for those seeking an endurance adventure. I know of no 17 year olds that would want to do this event. The only cats for this event are geared and SS. The poker deck is what it’s all about and getting to the card stashes first may or may not be a benefit. It all depends on what card you draw first.

GPS’s the first half of the course yesterday in 90+ F temps. 30 miles took 4.5 hours. I stopped a bunch to check on hikers and bikers in the area. Will add the other 30 miles or so to the track this weekend. It’s going to be freakin’ brutal!

Pay station is now available at the start, so you don’t need to pick up an envelope on transmountain road.

Alan and I were out riding from the gap down through the state park this weekend. What is happening to the sunset loop, there seems to be alot of bulldozing going on crossing through the singletrack? Some of the singletrack has been taken out. What the F!@$% is going on! It looks like they are putting a road in that area. Is there still going to be a sunset loop in the course…..my heart saddens…..love that loop

That part of the trail is actually on Jobe land. Old man Jobe himself decided to go mark his turf and drove his dozer out there to do it. Pretty lame for sure. We may have to do some walking in that area, but it’s not that bad. Just ugly.

I finished the gps track this past weekend. It is currently at 53 miles….much shorter than I expected, but I think people will enjoy the ride a bit more. There is quite a bit of hike-a-bike on 2 climbs, so shortening it is probably a good call. We may have to do a small reroute due to the bulldozing as we won’t get the new trail built for a couple of months.

I’ll post the track somewhere in a couple of days.

Pay stations are now available on the east side of the mountains right at the start of our ride. So there is no need to stop on the west side of the mountains to get a park pass.

I plan to reroute around the dozer paths which will mean doubling up on a bit of dirt road and the paved road in the park. No biggie. It might shorten the ride by a couple of miles. It will be easy to figure out.

Is there a road map on how to get to the start of the event (never been there)
    Thanks Dave
